William Gentry Warf, age 85, husband of Brenda Sims Warf, and resident of Culleoka, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Jacob Shires Family Cemetery in Maury County. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 22, 1937, in Williamson County, Tennessee, William was the son of the late Hollis V. Warf and the late Annie Lee Richards Warf. He was a 1955 graduate of Bethesda High School and married Brenda Sims on March 8, 1962. He worked several years as a bookkeeper for Edwards Oil Company until transferring to Anderson & Neal Trucking where he worked as a truck driver. He later worked as the Superintendent for Dairyman, Inc, which eventually merged into American Dairyman, until he retired in 1991.
William was a true outdoorsman who loved his farm, cattle, and horses. He also enjoyed quail hunting and fishing. He was a wonderful husband and father who had a special place in his heart for his grandsons. William was a member of Highland Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and knew the only thing that truly mattered in life was his relationship with Him. William was loved by many people and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mark (Sandra) Warf of Rockvale, TN, siblings, Mae Prater of McMinnville, TN, Margie Rucker of Brentwood, TN, Jimmy (Dot) Warf of Franklin, TN, Randall (Faith) Warf of Franklin, TN, Dyron Warf of Franklin, TN, brother in law, Billy (Peggy Jean) Sims of Culleoka, TN, sister in law, Frances Hamilton of Columbia, TN, cousin, W.C. Warf of Lyles, TN, grandchildren, Taylor Alexander Warf, Tanner Harrison Warf, Regan McGril, Nolan McGril, special friends, Bill & Patsy Watkins, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Boyd, Christine Neal, Alma McGaw, Ennis Warf, and brother in law, Barry Eugene Sims.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Warf, Tanner Warf, Jason Weakley, Stephen Hardison, Christopher Hardison, Andrew Hardison, Scotty Sims, and Nolan McGril. Honorary pallbearers will include Gene Matthews, Dennis Harrington, Danny Harrington, and Jeff Mink.
The family appreciates the special friends that stepped in to help with caring for the farm over the past several years: Gene Matthews, John Cicero, Dennis Harrington, and Danny Harrington. The family also extends a special thanks to Doctors Lucy Ledbetter, David Thompson, Gaylon Harris and staff, the staff of Amedisys Palliative/Hospice group, palliative care nurse Carmen Muehlbauer, and special friends and caregivers, Donna & Robert Crigger.
