William Mills

Mr. William Hershel Mills, age 81, a resident of Summertown, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 12PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Trent Hill officiating. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 18, 1945 in Spring Hill, Tennessee, Bill was the son of the late Eddie Mills Sr. and the late Edna Sowell Mills. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years, serving in Vietnam. He was married to his best friend, Pam Ferguson Mills, for forty-two years. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, working in construction, retiring from Smith Constructors, formally Smith Trucking, having a well maintained yard, piddling in his workshop, and was known as the family handyman. He was a member of Summertown Church of Christ. A loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved hm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Chris) Wood Sr., brother, James (Louise) Mills, grandchildren, Kaydee Wood, Corey (Keanndra) Wood, Chris (Rebecca) Wood Jr., great grandchildren, CJ Wood, Rielyn Wood, William Wood, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Mills Jr., Howard Mills, and his sister, Myrtle Hawkins.

Pallbearers will be Chris Wood Sr., Corey Wood, Tim Cannady, Alex Clark, Jake Urban, and Dan Wicker.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Randy Williams.
