William Ronald Bartlett, age 87, resident of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at his residence.
Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
William was born on May 10, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Gilbert Archie Bartlett and the late Alice Marie Kraut Bartlett. He served his
country with honor in the United States Army. Following his military service, William pursued a career as a boat captain, navigating the waters of
Decatur, Alabama, and the mighty Mississippi River. Together with his wife (Iona Bartlett), he owned and operated a ferry boat, demonstrating a
lifelong passion for the maritime industry. In his youth, William found enjoyment in assembling model ships, a testament to his skills and
interests.
However, beyond his professional pursuits, William found his greatest joy in the company of his family, cherishing moments spent together,
particularly during lively games of Monopoly. His warmth and laughter will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Left to honor his memory are his devoted wife, Iona Bartlett of Lawrenceburg, TN; his sons, Randy (Patricia) Wense of Lester, AL, and Derril
Bartlett (Donna Brown) of Tanner, AL; his daughters, Linda McPherson of Tanner, AL, and Connie (Glen) Sides of Madison, AL; his sisters, Judy
(Darrel) Coughlin of Carrollton, IL, and Patricia McDermid of Evergreen, CO; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchild, and one great-
great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, Richard (Ricky) Wense, and his brothers, James Bartlett and Norman
Bartlett.
