Velma Marie Hodge

Mrs. Velma Marie Hodge, daughter of the late John Ely Lee and Marjorie Lockridge, was born on January 2, 1950, and entered into eternal life on August 18, 2025, at St. Thomas Rutherford Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Velma cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed simple pleasures, especially visiting one of her favorite places, the Dollar Tree. Later in life, Velma made the important decision to give her life to Christ and became a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Peri Chinoda. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her love for family, and the joy she brought to those who knew her. To know Velma was truly to love her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Terrie (Charles) Esmond and Don (Mary) Lee; her grandchildren, Jayme (Jasmine) Baugh, Lakeyia Lee, Keniyah (Kayla) Jordan, Jasmine Lee, Don Lee, Jr., Adonis Dodson, and Zackery Dodson; her special granddaughter who held her heart, Jalecia Baugh; great grandchildren, Jazarion Baugh and Jaziyah Baugh; her loving sisters, Glenda (Sam) Davis, Portia (John) Quarles, Molly (Joe) Brown, and Eliza Mae Oden; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
