Karen Shyanne Potete, age 34, beloved wife of David Allen Potete and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Henry McMahan and Bro. Doug Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Burns Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home.
Born on January 27, 1992, in Columbia, Tennessee, Shyanne was the daughter of Jason (Wendy) McConnell and the late Karen Workman McConnell. She was a 2010 graduate of Hampshire Unit School and dedicated several years of her career to caring for others as an LPN at Columbia Pediatrics.
On February 27, 2016, she married the love of her life, Allen Potete. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories. Affectionately known as "Nay Nay" to her beloved nieces and nephews, Shyanne loved each of them unconditionally and treasured every moment they spent together.
Shyanne had a passion for cooking and was especially gifted at decorating beautiful cakes and cookies. She enjoyed horseback riding, and she and her husband especially loved attending Mule Day, where they shared a passion for mules and wagons.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her brother, Jason "Jay" (Mallie) McConnell, Jr.; stepsister, Ashley Paiton (Kyle) Dickson; mother-in-law, Teresa Potete; father-in-law, Gerald Potete; grandmother, Linda Jane McConnell; grandmother-in-law, Mae Potete; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Daniel (Gypsy) Potete, Vicky (Steven) Burns, Rebecca (Daniel) Kelley, and Phillip (Brooklyn) Potete; and her very special nieces and nephews, Maizie McConnell, Dally McConnell, Ella Dickson, Amelia Potete, Natalie Potete, Caroline Potete, Lily Burns, Luke Burns, Emma Kelley, Acesyn Kelley, Lakelyn Potete, and Waylon Potete.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Betty Workman Reed, James Roosevelt Workman, and Danny McConnell.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Allen Potete, Jason McConnell, Jay McConnell, Phillip Potete, Daniel Potete, and Caleb Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will include Eddie "Bubba" McKennon, Stevie McConnell, J. Lee McConnell, and Tyler Smith.
