Ann Dorman

Sarah “Ann” Elliott Dorman, age 93, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at NHC Maury.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Brandon Cochran officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on June 20, 1932 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Ann was the daughter of the late Leroy Elliott and the late Katie Bishop Elliott. Ann and her late husband, Charles “Ned” Dorman celebrated fifty-six years of marriage together. Ann embodied a true servant's heart as she dedicated her life to volunteer work. She volunteered at Maury Regional Medical Center for many years and was on the Board of Tennessee Hospital Association for Voluntarism. In that role, she was involved with the planning of speaking events and publishing a newsletter. She was nominated for the prestigious Mary Catherine Strobel Award, which is given yearly as a top honor for volunteerism. Her volunteer work began when she was a den mother for her sons’ cub scout troops. She was chairwoman of one of the hospital’s local charity events. Whenever she was not volunteering her time, she enjoyed traveling and working with her hands. Ann was a virtuous woman and was loved by all who knew her, she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Dale (Barbara) Dorman, Steve Dorman, daughter, Rita (Ronnie) Pigg, sisters, Mary Kate (Cecil) Fogg, Louise (Paul Dean) Culbreth, Virginia (Joe) Brown, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Rankin Elliott and daughter, Robin Leigh Dorman Keto

Pallbearers will be Caleb Smith, Cody Smith, Kane Pigg, Keith Culbreth, Randy Culbreth, and Mark Elliot.
