Ronald "Ronnie" Dean Reese

Ronald “Ronnie” Dean Reese, age 68, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Shiloh Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, Illinois.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Fly Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born December 24, 1954, in Maury County, Tennessee, and raised in Santa Fe, Ronnie was the son of the late Marvin Knox Reese and the late Mary Irene Turner Reese and the husband of Kathy Holcomb Reese. He attended Santa Fe School and served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing pool. In his younger days, he loved singing and dancing. He had a special place in his heart for children and all kinds of animals.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Shawna (Jeff) Peters of Pulaski, Jaime Greer of Columbia, brothers, James (Dana) Rizzardi-Reese of Columbia, Bubba-Marvin (Linda) Reese of Columbia, Tommy Reese of Santa Fe, sisters, Shelia Reed of Columbia, Lee (Scott) Bailey of Santa Fe, Mattie (Freddie) Smith of Santa Fe, and grandchildren, Austin Peters, Ashlyn Greer, Samantha Greer, and Mehki Greer.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Reese, sister, Becky Slaughter, brother in law, Raymond Reed, and great nephew, William Louis Scott Bailey.
