Ronald Lee “Ron” Deakins, age 79, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
No services are scheduled presently. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born May 1, 1941 in Middlesboro, KY, he was the son of the late Ralph and Frances Huff Deakins and the longtime companion of Jo Ann O’Connor. Ron worked as a TN State Trooper, a Memphis police officer and recently as a corrections guard at Magnolia Academy Youth Facility. He loved bird watching, working on his computer and watching TV.
In addition to his companion, he is survived by his children: Patrick Deakins of Hubert, NC, Stephen Deakins of Sevierville, Ronda Roberts of Sevierville and Priscilla Hill of Raleigh NC; sister: Carolyn Beck of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
