Roland
Shapiro
May 21, 1961 — Oct 5, 2026
Columbia
Roland Shapiro, age 65, a well-known master painter and lifelong resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Born on May 21, 1961, in Columbia, Roland, affectionately known as "Ro Ro," was the son of the late Joseph Shapiro and the late Bessie Lee Nix Shapiro. He was a 1979 graduate of Columbia Central High School where he was voted Most Popular and was a member of the Phi Sigma Chi.
Ro Ro was a talented painter who took great pride in his work and in the business he built, Shapiro Painting. Over the years, he completed more than five hundred painting jobs throughout the community, something he was always proud to share. His skill, hard work, and familiar presence made him well known throughout Columbia and the surrounding community.
More than anything, Ro Ro will be remembered for the relationships he shared with those around him. He was a loving son, brother, father, and friend. He shared a special bond with his daughter, Rachael, who adored him. Together, they enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially exploring the creek and appreciating the beauty of nature. Ro Ro had a deep love for the outdoors and animals, and he especially enjoyed searching for and collecting unique rocks and fossils.
Ro Ro’s unexpected passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachael (Jackson) Moser, brothers, Ben (Cindy) Shapiro, John (Ashley) Shapiro, Doug (Shannon Rippey) Shapiro, sisters, Pat Chouinard, Diane Hoge, grandchildren, Lily Moser, Jack Moser, and nieces and nephews, Jeff Chouinard, Ashley Beth Shapiro, Jenna (Ty) Martin, Joseph (Lauren) Shapiro, Austyn (Adam Mills) Shapiro, Lakin Shapiro (Mike) Lee, and Corinne Shapiro, and great nieces and nephews, Novah Ricciardi, Ivy Blake Mills, Ada Martin, Henry Martin, Weller and Soloman Shapiro.
