Mr. Roger Andrew Dawson, age 66, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 22, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Roger was the son of the late Robert Andrew Dawson and the late Emma Louise Dawson Green. He was an avid sports fan who especially loved cheering for the Tennessee Titans. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Army and held a deep passion for the military. Roger enjoyed learning and reflecting on black history, listening to music, reading his Bible, and playing spades. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July. Above all, he was devoted to his family and treasured every moment spent with them.
Roger is survived by his children, Tasha Buckley, Chase Edmiston, Raven (Tyler) Rondeau, Elijah Bellaphant, Angelica Schofield, EJ Dawson, and Jayce Dawson; his siblings, Robert Daryl (Lesa) Dawson, Tina Dawson Gilbert (Eddie Brown), Sonya (Reginald) Dawson-Murphy, Jeff (Dedra) Dawson, Michelle Robinson, Sharon Presley, and Chris Dawson; sister cousin, Tammye Robinson Richardson; brother cousin, Tony Webster; special friend, Lavonda Crutcher, close friends, Jeremy Hawkins, and Michael Witherspoon, as well as many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Dawson, sister, Stacey Green, and stepfather, Dwight Green.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to nurse Elvie and tech Crystal, along with the doctors, nurses, and staff at Maury Regional Hospital, and the staff at Caris Healthcare.
