Mr. Robert “Bob” Lee Campbell, age 89, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Life Care Center of Columbia, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, on August 13, 1936, to P.H. and Martha Lee Campbell. He was a graduate of Murray State University and Indiana University, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and later achieved Rank 1 in Secondary Education.
He married his devoted wife, Lula Couty on May 30, 1959, and shared a beautiful 66-year journey filled with enduring love, unwavering commitment and faith in the Lord. Robert dedicated 30 years as an Industrial Arts teacher at Daviess County High School and was honored as Kentucky Industrial Arts Teacher of the Year. He also served his country in the Army National Guard for six years.
A committed Christian, Robert’s life reflected his deep love for the Lord and for others. For nearly 60 years, he faithfully served the Lord through Lewis Lane Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky, teaching Sunday School, serving as a deacon, and lovingly visiting members of the congregation. He had a heart for ministry and missions, assisting with Kentucky disaster relief efforts and participating in local, state, and international mission trips. He was also actively involved with The Gideons International, sharing his faith whenever the opportunity arose.
He was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan and a gifted woodworker, delighting in creating special projects for family and others. Robert loved traveling and cherished the time spent with his family, who filled his heart with joy. Known for his wit, kindness, and warm, likable spirit, he enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and bringing smiles to those around him. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, P.H. and Martha Lee Campbell; his sister, Patricia Campbell; his daughter-in-law, Susan Campbell; and his nephew, Mark Campbell.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sons, Bryan (Meredith) Campbell, Roger (Melissa) Campbell, Glenn (Lori) Campbell, and Larry (Leslie) Campbell; his brother, Stephen (Donna) Campbell; his sister, Jill (Larry) Vaught; his grandchildren, Harrison (Anne) Campbell, Rebecca Campbell, Brittany (Trey) Jacks, Leah (Daniel) Edgren, Macy Campbell, Katie Campbell, Meredith Campbell, Morgan Campbell, and Mackenzie Campbell; and his step-grandchildren, Jordan Clark, Joanna (Caleb) McElfresh, and Nathan Clark.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00–3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Columbia, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 PM with Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church officiating. Robert will be cremated at a later date and laid to rest in Columbia, TN. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
