Born on December 2, 1939, in Galesburg, Illinois, Reva was the only child of the late Everett Brown and the late Ruth Brock Brown. She graduated from Alexis High School in Alexis, Illinois, in 1957, and went on to pursue a career in nursing. On August 26, 1965, she began her 59-year journey as a nurse, dedicating her life to caring for others. Over the years, she worked at Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Illinois, Galesburg Mental Health Center in Galesburg, Illinois, and St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, Illinois.
Reva was a devoted member of Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she cherished her church family. She had a deep love for flowers and a compassionate heart that touched everyone she met. Reva lived by her father’s motto: “That is why God gave us two hands… one to help wash the other.” She carried herself with humility, spoke kindly, and never boasted. She had a talent for organizing her home, a passion for detailing vehicles, and an appreciation for all kinds of music. She enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, and watching auto racing. Reva was always ready to lend a helping hand and loved deeply and without measure.
She is survived by her children, Terrence Bybee of Columbia, Tennessee and Joe (Deanna) Creek of Iowa; grandchildren, Mackenzie Bybee and Campbell (Angelina) Bybee, both of Columbia, Tennessee, and Joshua (Dori) Creek of FL and Jeremy Creek of Iowa; great-grandchildren, Parker Bybee, Olivia Creek, and Bridger Creek; stepson, Mike (Betty) Hinderliter; stepdaughter, Karla Wetherholt; step-grandchildren, Amanda Mercado, Holly Miller, Jeffrey Hinderliter, Amberlyn Galpin (Maliek Phillips), and Alan Galpin II (Alyssa Quick); and step-great-grandchildren, Devon Hinderliter, Elizabeth Miller, Jordan Miller, Vanessa Hinderliter, Allison Hinderliter, Sylvie Hanley, Logan Quick, and Alayna Galpin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Hinderliter, and her daughter-in-law, Meredith Campbell Bybee.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Faith Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Tennessee Oncology, Columbia Cancer Institute, the staff at Maury Regional Medical Center, Dr. Couch, and Dr. Freels for their compassionate care over the past several months.
