Peggy Elaine Huff, age 76, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Heart of Mary House, in Nashville, Tennessee.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Andrew Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery in Columbia. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Sunday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 18, 1949, in Franklin, Tennessee, Peggy was the daughter of the late Damon Huff and Pauline Dale Huff. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School, class of 1967 and also a graduate of Columbia Business College, class of 1970. She retired from Robert Harlan Law Office, where she worked as a secretary. Peggy was known as “Miss Peggy” by many and she described herself as a non-denominational spirit-filled person.

Peggy was blessed to be the caregiver for her parents for five years. She was a volunteer at Place of Hope. Peggy was a loving mother, who was extremely proud of her sons. She loved the Lord and teaching the word of God to everyone she met. A loving grandmother, she referred to her grandchildren as “her angels”. Vibrant and outgoing, she never met a stranger and she made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Waffle House and Legends restaurant, going to yard sales, and playing the piano. ”Miss Peggy” will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peggy is survived by her sons, David Forrest Hayes, of Leoma and Daniel Wilson Hayes (Dr. Shawn C. Malugin) of Murfreesboro, the fathers of her sons, Bobby Wayne Hayes and John T. Mitchell, her grandchildren’s mother, Channon Hayes of Searcy, Arkansas, grandchildren, Austin Forrest Hayes of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Jacob Wilson Hayes (Madeline) of Ball Knob, Arkansas, and great grandchildren, Elliot Hayes and Jorja Hayes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorris Brown Huff , her paternal and maternal grandparents, and special friends, Dewayne Carter and Robert Harlan.

Pallbearers will be David Hayes, Austin Hayes, Jacob Hayes, Norman Marable, Ken Anderson, Johnny Fleeman, Andy Coats, and Robert Pipkin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Novak, Dr. William Fleet, Dr. Morgan Hines, and Dr. Johnny Johns, Dewayne Carte, Brenda Marable, Vickie Pratt, Jackie Fleeman, Peter Barek, Sandra Hooper, and Michelle Elson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Peter Barek, Dr. John Novak, her care team at Heart of Mary House, and special friend, Vickie Pratt.
