Paula Gwen Alexander, age 73, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran and Mike Stanley officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on August 4, 1952, in Columbia, Tennessee, Paula was the daughter of the late Glen Norman Harris and the late Laura Willie Potts. On May 10, 1975, she married Porter Eugene Alexander, and together they spent 44 wonderful years before his passing on February 4, 2021. In addition to being a homemaker, she was owner and operator of the Golden Eagle from 1986-1995.
Paula was known as “Nanny” to many and gave unconditional love and made an impact on all those she encountered. Her outgoing and carefree personality made her the life of the party. She will be forever missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughters, Christy Parrish of Taunton, MA, Amanda Alexander of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Jon Michael Wright, Justin (Mercedes) Alexander, Jason (Stephanie) Alexander, and sisters, Patricia (Kevin) Brown and Cindy Dooley.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Donnie Alexander, Ronnie Alexander, and sister Carolyn Thurman.
Those proudly serving as pallbearers will be Jon Michael Wright, Evan Plunkett, Avery Johnson, Jakyri McClure, Logan Pinkerton, and Zach Borne.
