Norma Jene Aaland

Norma Jene Aaland, age 83, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at her home. A celebration of life will be held on August 30th 2025, at 2:00 PM at Central Christian Church, 701 Bear Creek Pike, Columbia, TN 38401, with a fellowship visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.

Born on May 17, 1942 in Akron, Iowa, Norma was the daughter of the late Elmer Mook and the late Florence Weise Mook. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Phil Aaland and they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage together. Norma was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed crafting with her sister Darlis, together they made lawn ornaments. Quilting, flower and vegetable gardening, square dancing, making dresses and shirts, baking, camping, off-roading, hummingbirds, being outdoors, painting, cross-stitching, and her cats were all among her favorite hobbies. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Roger Aaland, daughters, Cindy (Mike) Dickson, Suzan (Larry) Bool, sisters, Darlis (Craig) Myron, Sheryl (David) Pyle, grandchildren; Travis Parker, Heather Bool, Johnathan Bool, Jeremiah Bool, Danae (Frank) Iacovella, Patrick (Jody) Walton, Wendy Dickson, great-grandchildren; Vienna Iacovella, Patrick Walton, Phillip Walton, Tyler (Veronica) Michaelson, Cole Harrington, and numerous nephews, nieces, and numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Arnold Mook, Robert Mook, and sisters, Lois Welch and Shirley Onnen.
