Maxie Josephine Virginia McKinzie Hill, age 78, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Life Care Center.
A funeral service to celebrate Maxie’s life will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Monte McCandless and Rick Points officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Maury County, Tennessee, Maxie was born on May 29, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin McKinzie and the late Annie Lee Walker McKinzie. She began her career working at several nursing homes in Maury County before pursuing her passion as a registered nurse, dedicating thirty years of service at NHC Hillview before retiring. She found joy in working puzzles, reading, and cooking. Above all, she was a devout Christian and a long-time founding, faithful member of Faith Pentecostal Church. She held a profound love for her family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her brother, R M (Jenny) McKinzie of Culleoka, TN, sister, Mary Ruth McKinzie (Allen) Dean of Portland, OR, very special granddaughter, Delayna (Andrew) Sisk of Columbia, TN, great grandchildren, Lila Sisk and Jayce Sisk, nieces and nephews, Michael (Denise) Dean, Bryan (Kim) Dean, Robert Matthew (April) McKinzie, Nicholas McKinzie, Shelby (Jamie) Grooms, Savanna (Jessie) English, Anna Kapelski, Verna (Lonnie) Hutchison, and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Roy Lee Hill, John Robert Hill, and sisters, Carolyn Lou Kapelski and Betty Ann Andrews.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Sisk, Jay Harmon, Bailey McCandless, Robert McKinzie, Nicky McKinzie, and R M McKinzie. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Faith Pentecostal Church, the doctors, nurses, and staff at Life Care Center, the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice Compassus, and Elizabeth Parker.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
