Mary Elizabeth Cothran Scott

Mary Elizabeth Cothran Scott, age 91, passed peacefully from this world with her family by her side. She was a longtime resident of the Sandy Hook Community and the daughter of Minnie Lee (Massey) Cothran and Johnnie Ragsdale Cothran. Mary was happily married to Miles “Mack” Love Scott for 69 years until his passing in 2022. She is survived by her children, Kay (Steve) Renfro and Donna (Billy) Sexton; her grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Renfro, Jillian (Travis) Quillen, and Daniel (Sabrina) Sexton; her great grandchildren, Nicklas (Destiny) Renfro, Jenna Elizabeth (Lucas “Luke”) Roberson, Riley Sexton, and Danica Sexton; her great great grandchildren, June Elizabeth Renfro and Elliott Roberson; her sisters, Sara (Dickey) Lindsey and Alma Jean Stewart; her brother, Richard (Edith) Cothran; sister-in-law, Laney Cothran; and many loved nieces and nephews. All of her family will forever love and miss her and cherish their memories of her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Gibson, Sue McGee, and Viola Odom, and her brother, Billy Cothran.

She was a retired farmer and worked for the Maury County Board of Education for 20+ years. She was a great cook and enjoyed sewing, flowers, and gardening. Her home was where the whole family gathered throughout their lives. She always had a home cooked meal prepared for them to enjoy. She was always there when her family needed her.

A private family service will be held before her remains are laid to rest alongside her husband, Mack. As a Christian, her family is comforted knowing that her walk with the Lord continues beyond this earth.
