Marvin Earl Brown, Jr.

Mr. Marvin Earl Brown, Jr., age 76, and a resident of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, July 9th 2025.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Heritage Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, July 17th, from 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marvin was born on October 9, 1948, in Jeffersonville, Georgia and was the son of the late Marvin Brown, Sr., and the late Irene Roberts Brown.

Marvin was a proud U.S. Army veteran and devoted family man. A member of Faulk’s Chapel Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Georgia, Marvin’s faith was central to his life and guided him with compassion and purpose.

He was known for his warm spirit—Marvin never met a stranger. He made everyone feel like family, offering help freely and generously, always ready with a joke or smile to brighten the day. His collection of military coins and sports hats reflected a lifelong appreciation for service and team pride.

He was a passionate fan of Alabama football and the Tennessee Titans. He found joy in the garden and harmony in music, embracing the beauty of everyday life. Marvin loved everything Georgia—its people, its places, its soul.

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering generosity. Marvin gave freely, loved fully, and lived with boundless energy and care.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Ruby Jean Mostella Brown, son, Yusef Brown of Columbia, brother, James (Linda) Brown of Jeffersonville, Georgia, sisters, Vivian Jackson of Warner Robins, Georgia and Susie Brown of Jeffersonville, Georgia, grandchildren, Yasmin Brown and La’Tiarra Brown. In addition to his family, Marvin was constantly surrounded by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, who loved and cherished him daily.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Brown.
