Marlys C. Baker, aged 79, a resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away on December 20, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born on November 27, 1944, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Marlys dedicated 36 years of her life to the noble profession of nursing, serving with distinction in the ER. Her commitment to caring for others was evident not just in her professional life but also in her personal interactions. A devoted member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, Marlys found solace and strength in her faith.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Marlys was a woman of diverse passions. An avid reader, she found joy in the worlds crafted by authors. Her culinary skills were evident to those lucky enough to savor her dishes, and her knack for sewing ensured that many cherished memories were captured in the form of handcrafted items. A traveler at heart, Marlys and her beloved husband, Larry, embarked on many adventures, especially enjoying the open road on their Harley Davidson.
Her heart held a special place for Larry C. Baker, her devoted husband of 20 years, with whom she shared countless memories and joys. She is also survived by her son, Bryan Bates of West Point, MS, and her grandchild.
While Marlys's journey on this earth has come to a close, the love, kindness, and memories she imparted will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.
Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Coker, and her beloved son, Steven Bates.
