Maria "Angie" De Los Angeles Brown

May 25, 1943 — March 12, 2023

Angie is finally in her eternal resting place.  Angie passed away on March 12, 2023, at age 79 in Columbia, Tennessee after many, long years of suffering with Frontal Lobe dementia.

She was well taken care of by her beloved, late husband, Jerry Brown, up until his unfortunate passing on November 5, 2022.  Since Jerry’s passing, Angie had been under Hospice care at NHC Columbia until her passing.

Angie was born on May 25, 1943, in El Paso, Texas to Miguel and Refugio Colorado.  Interestingly, Angie was born while her father was interned as a POW in Poland during the WW II.  Angie was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, her sisters Carmen Hernandez and Connie Ayala, and her brothers Jorge Colorado, Benjamin Colorado, Hector Colorado and Louie Colorado.  She is survived by her sisters Teresa Nunez, Estella Contreras, Beatriz Colorado and Margie (Larry) Seawell, and brother Miguel (Olga) Colorado, Richard (Charlene) Colorado, Ernesto (Kris) Colorado and Albert (Rebecca) Colorado, along with many nephews and nieces, from both the Colorado and Brown side.

Angie graduated from Bowie High School in El Paso, Texas with top honors.  She later earned her BS from Sonoma State University in California, and her Nursing certification from the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in El Paso.  Angie proudly served in the US Air Force as a surgical flight nurse, attaining the rank of Captain in her four years of service.  She was honorably discharged from the Air Force as a Captain on April 1, 1970.

Angie’s visitation and service in Tennessee will be held at Belmont Church in Nashville, TN on Saturday, March 18, 2023, starting at 12 noon for visitation and 1 pm for funeral service. Service will be conducted by Mick Antanaitis, a long-time family friend. A reception will be held afterwards at Belmont Church.  At their mutual request, Jerry and Angie chose to be buried alongside each other at the National Cemetery in Ft Bliss, Texas, where they both met.  The Texas services will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 750 Carolina Dr, El Paso.  Afterwards, Captain Angie Brown will be interned at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, alongside her husband, retired Army Col Jerry Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions to the Cure VCP organization who have been instrumental in bringing awareness of the VCP gene-mutation that has inflicted many of our family members.
