Lydia Gross, 103 years old, looked into the loving eyes of her Lord & Savior on July 19th. Lydia was born to Jacob & Emma Merki in Arbon, Switzerland on August 25, 1921. Her family emigrated to the US when she was 18 months old. In 1941 she married the love of her life, John Gross who preceded her in death in 1987.
She was a very loving person who never met a stranger and one who had many talents. She taught both piano and organ as well as being her church's pianist and organist. She also worked as the bookkeeper/manager for her husband’s business.
Lydia loved playing games, especially Scrabble and Hand & Foot. She was also talented at sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, drawing, woodworking & printing photographs. Additionally, she volunteered doing biblical translation at JAARS & even flew a plane over Nashville a month before her 100th birthday.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and two sisters. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, David (Suzanne) Gross TN; Alan (Carol) Gross, PA; Susan (Cris) Golde, NY; Philip (Donna) Gross, PA; as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be graveside in Roslyn, PA at a later date.
