Mr. Larry Thomas Lamar, age 84, a resident of Culleoka, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 26, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on September 1, 1941, in Columbia, Larry was the son of the late Luther Lamar and the late Elaine Cheek Lamar. He was a 1961 graduate of Culleoka Unit School and proudly served in the United States National Guard. On November 27, 1964, he married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Goats, who preceded him in death on September 24, 2025. Larry worked for thirty-four years at Inner City Products before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic and his unwavering dedication to providing for his family. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of raising two children whom he loved deeply.
From a young age, Larry developed a lifelong passion for coon hunting, a hobby that remained close to his heart throughout his life. A true outdoorsman, he found joy in nature, hiking, traveling, and embarking on any adventure that came his way. He enjoyed growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, and he loved sharing the bounty of his garden with family and friends. Larry was an honest, thoughtful, and brilliant man who appreciated the simple things in life. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his son, Dave (Angela) Lamar, daughter, Peggy (Adam) Hayes, brother, Kenneth (Cathy) Lamar, sisters, Mirian Battersby, Ruth Lamar, grandchildren, Brandy Nunley, Cassie Hallman, Brittany (Matt) Pressley, Chasity Lamar (Jacob), Brandon (Cassie) Lamar, Caitlyn (Trevor) Cummings, Anthony (Sara) Hayes, and great grandchildren, Brookelyn Nunley, Madalyn Nunley, Blaine Nunley, Bryce Nunley, Waylon Cummings, Cruz Hallman, Max Hallman, Watson Pressley, and Wrenley Grace Cummings.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Lamar, and great grandson, Walker Lazarz.
Pallbearers will be Paul Lamar, Brandon Lamar, Trevor Cummings, Matt Pressley, Jacob Lamar, Jacob Warren, and Christian Kinder.
