Keith Alan Akers, age 72, husband of Vickey Marken Akers, and a resident of Culleoka, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Dan McCulley officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Garden of Freedom in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 8, 1953, in Washtenaw County, Michigan, Keith was the son of the late Virgil and Hazel Jewel Akers. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On February 7, 1976, he married the love of his life, Vickey Marken. Keith worked for thirty-five years in the body shop at General Motors until his retirement.
Keith had a passion for the outdoors and found great joy in deer hunting and fishing. Known as a gentle giant, he was soft-spoken but had a playful spirit and loved to tell jokes and stories. He had a special love for singing and will always be remembered for his by his favorite song, “Old Blue.” Above all, Keith had a heart for helping others and was always willing to lend a hand when needed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Brian (Olivia) Akers, daughter, Crystal Akers, daughter in law, Becky Kelly, grandchildren, Andy Kelly, Emily Akers, Ryan Akers, Shelby Lipscomb, Lyla Akers, Camden Akers, Willow Akers, and Noah Akers, brothers in law, John Marken, Paul White, Roy Francis, sisters in law, Sherry Bowman, Robin (Gary) Hoover, Linda Akers, Martha Marken, and numerous nieces and nephew.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Akers, sisters in law, Joyce White, Joan Pendry, Georgia Currier, Peggy Francis, Frances Marken, and brothers in law, Don Marken, Ted Marken, Richard Marken, and Don Currier.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Bill Smotherman, Gary Hoover, Ryan Akers, Austin Kohler, Richard Marken, and Andy Kelly.
