Kathy Lynn Walker

Kathy Lynn Smith Walker, 66, resident of Columbia, died Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 4:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born March 17, 1960, in Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Richard Gregory Smith Sr. and Glenda Mae Atkinson Smith. Kathy was a 1978 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College. For 26 years, she worked for Columbia Power and Water Systems. Everything she touched, she turned into beautiful works of art. She was most known for her beautiful hand-painted Christmas ornaments.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, James “Jim” Harlan Walker; daughter, Kristin Walker Owens; in-laws, Johnny and Mildred Brown; grandchildren, Ethan Cole Owens (MacKenzie Hay), Maci Lynn Owens (Matthew Terry); great granddaughter, Lainey Ann Owens; sister, Pam Smith Rummage; brother, Rick Smith Jr. (Donna); precious fur babies, Lexie and Luka; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Glenda Smith and brother-in- law, Lee Rummage.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Cole Owens, Rick Smith, Matt Rummage, Taylor Rummage,Ryan Massey, and Jeff Parks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Martha Mayberry, Sarah Owen, Rachel Luna, David Smith, Ron & Pam Walker, and past and present employees of Columbia Power and Water Systems.
