Mr. Joe Perry Hickman, 80, a resident of Columbia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at his residence, with his devoted wife by his side.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Riverview Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, with Pastor David Buffaloe officiating. Entombment will follow at Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 -11:00 AM. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born August 17, 1945 in Giles County, Joe was the son of the late Russell Hickman and the late Janie Rose Hickman. He was a graduate of Jones High School, class of 1962 and later he received his associates’ degree from Columbia State. He met the love of his life, Brenda Lemay, at the county fair; they married six months later and went onto celebrate sixty years of marriage. Joe was a devoted Christian and a member of Riverview Baptist Church; he loved attending church services and worshiping God. He was an avid Braves baseball fan, and enjoyed traveling, hiking, and spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, who filled his heart with joy. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by sons, Michael (Cynthia) Hickman, Russell (Brooke) Hickman, Jonathan (Katie) Hickman, Coty (Cameron) Hickman, daughter, Heather (Cody) Reece, grandchildren, Summer Hickman, Josh Hickman, Jacob Hickman, Avery Hickman, Micayla Hickman, Jackson Wood, Grace Wood, Amelia Rose Hickman, Tarrants Hickman, Zae’Den Hickman, Charlotte Hickman, Joanna Hickman, Matilda Reece, Aiden Reece, Silas Reece, Sophia Hickman, Liam Hickman, Noah Hickman, Cooper Hickman, and great granddaughter, Willow Hickman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Darrell Hickman, brothers, Richard Hickman, Rayburn Hickman, and sister, Nora Dean Hickman.

Pallbearers will be Avery Hickman, Jackson Wood, Cody Reece, Aiden Reece, Jason Scott, Randall Hickman, Jim Linam, and Josh Hickman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Coty Hickman, Jacob Hickman, Zae’Den Hickman, Tarrants Hickman, Brandon Cochran, members of Riverview Baptist Church, and members of Open Door Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Riverview Baptist Church, 798 Santa Fe Pike, Columbia, Tennessee 38401.
