Jimmy Leon Michael Brinkley, “Mike” a long-time resident of Mt. Pleasant, TN, departed from this life Tuesday the 28 th day of March at his home, 2191 Garner Road, Mt Pleasant at 8:17 AM. Preceded in death by his Father, James Curdin Brinkley, and grandson Caden Brinkley and one granddaughter Everly Dixon. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Glen Lawrence Brinkley “Larry,” Terry Degunya, Charles Degunya, and Vickie Brinkley.
Mike is survived by his wife Judy (Ivy) Brinkley and 5 children Deanna & Brian Carter, Mica & Richard Domerese, James & Rebecca Brinkley, Katie & Benjamin Ball, Lydia Brinkley Dixon, 18 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mike is also survived by his mother Goldie Geraldine Clark.
Born in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mike was of the Apostolic Faith. He was a generous individual, always looking to help those less fortunate.
He loved his family and was an excellent provider. He taught his children to honor Jesus and their Mother. Mike was enrolled in 12 different schools in the 10 years of formal education. Someone who changed the course of Mike’s life, and the next generation was James Thomas Ivy . James Ivy was a mentor for Mike and became the father figure in his life that he had not had.
Another thing that James Ivy blessed Mike with was the love of his life of 50 years, Judy Beth Ivy.
Following the next twenty years, Mike became known among many as MacGyver or as we sometimes call him the Jack of all Trades. He first started in brick masonry. Once mastering this skill, he moved on to others. Mike was a Welding Fabricator, Mechanic, Frame Puller, Auto Body Work, Over the Road Truck Driver, as well as others. Mike was never one to waste his time and always sought perfection with each of his trades. His life’s motto was if he didn’t know something he was going to figure it out . Mike became highly sought out by his friends for his knowledge and wisdom in many fields.
The funeral service will be held at The Lighthouse Church, 2000 Williamsport Pike, Columbia, TN 38401 on Thursday March 30, 2023, at 2:00 PM. A visitation will begin before the service at noon. The family will be there to welcome friends and relatives. He will be buried at Pisgah Ridge Cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
