Mr. Jimmy Dwight King, age 80, a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 1 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, with Mike Dawson officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 11-1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dwight was born on July 31, 1945 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and was the son of the late Jimmy King and Eula Hammond King. Dwight married the love of his life and best friend, Martha McAdams King and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage. A highly skilled transmission mechanic, he opened Kings Transmissions in 1985 and Kings Auto Sales. He took great pride in his work as a transmission mechanic and often joked about how fast he could build one. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with friends, and was known for making great pecan pies, rolls, and cornbread. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school. Dwight was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather, spending time with his family brought joy to him. He will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Greg (Meghan) King, daughter, Angela (Larry) Tatum, sisters, Nell Fox, Rebecca (Billy) King, grandchildren, Shelby (Jason) Lorenzon, Molly (Andy) Byrd, Bryson King, Kylie King, Landry King and Liberty King.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha (John) Bosco and his brother in law Ray Fox.
