Jerry Arlton Walters, age 86, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Stephen McCollum officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Tennessee Army National Guard. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born November 12, 1939, in Maury County, Jerry was the son of the late Bracken H. Walters and the late Marie Vestal Walters. He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard. On June 8, 1958, he married the love of his life, Carol Faye Davis, at Knob Creek Baptist Church, and together they raised their sons on the family farm. A man known for his strong work ethic, Jerry spent many years employed with Union Carbide before his retirement. He was also a skilled craftsman, working with J&J Steel and later operating his own metal fabrication business.

A true outdoorsman, Jerry devoted countless hours to working his farm. He was also a gifted artist who enjoyed creating with both metal and wood in his shop. Above all, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. Jerry was a longtime member of Knob Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Sammy (Tammy) Walters, daughter in law, Dana Walters, sisters, Shirley Hanback, Norma Jean (Jimmy) Dodson, grandchildren, Ryan (Kerri) Walters, Jonathan Walters, Blake (Brittney) Walters, Katie (Tyler Webb) Walters, great grandchildren, Wyatt Walters, Caden Walters, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Faye Walters on March 18, 2019, son, Michael Walters, brother, Kenny Walters, and brother in law, Jimmy Hanback.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Walters, Jonathan Walters, Blake Walters, Jeremy Hanback, Tyler Webb, and Allen Dodson.
