On December 1, 1958, he married the love of his life, Mattie Adams, and together they shared more than sixty-two years of marriage before her passing on April 21, 2021.
Jerry dedicated his life to farming, a profession he faithfully pursued until his retirement. Over the course of his ninety-one years, he encountered many experiences and loved talking to others about his past. A talented craftsman, he enjoyed weaving chair bottoms, drawing, and spending time outdoors mowing yards. Jerry never met a stranger and was well known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor, and love of making others laugh. More than anything, he treasured his family and the time they spent together.
He is survived by his sons, Ricky (Jennifer) Hobby of Columbia, James (Kendra) Hobby of Cornersville, Monroe (Tammy Humphrey) Hobby of Pulaski, daughter, Ella Marie “Sissy” (Mike) Collier of Columbia, grandchildren, Polly (TJ) Chapman, Mitchell (Erica) Collier, Lee Collier, Wayne Hobby, JJ (Taylor) Hobby, Janie Hobby, Trinity Pruett, Harley Pruett, Faith Thomas, Hunter Thomas, and great grandchildren, Haylie Chapman, John Hobby, Jessie Hobby, Carson Hobby, Meadow Carter, Easton Pruett, Ryan Pruett, and Adaline Pruett.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, William Hobby, Charlie Hobby, Tommy Hobby, Mildred Collins, and great grandson, Billy Joe Pruett.
