Jay Dee Morris

Jay Dee Morris, 60, of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, craftsmanship, and love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jay was born on November 7, 1965 to Thomas and Eheral “Penny” Morris. He attended schools in Nashville and Hendersonville, Tennessee, and spent his life surrounded by the people and things he loved most.

Jay was a carpenter by trade, a gifted craftsman who could turn an idea into something beautiful with his own two hands. He was happiest when he was busy building, creating, restoring and making life a little better for the people around him. He took great pride in creating beautiful homes and structures and was always willing to lend his time, talents, and a helping hand to family, friends, and customers.

One of Jay’s greatest passion was restoring antique cars. He loved bringing old things back to life and took pride in the beautiful vehicles he restored. He also enjoyed camping with his family, riding motorcycles, four-wheelers and taking peaceful Sunday drives in a truck he had lovingly brought back to life.

Above all, Jay loved people. He was never one to meet a stranger. Whether surrounded by family or spending time with friends, Jay had a way of making those around him feel welcome. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His generosity, hard work, humor and willingness to help others were simply part of who he was.

Jay accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age while attending Beacon Baptist Church in Nashville, and his faith remained an important part of his life.

Jay leaves behind his beloved daughter, Brittany Morris; the son he never had, Thomas Runions; his granddaughter, Aurora Runions: his grandson, Thomas Jay “TJ” Runions; and his bonus granddaughter, A’Ziyah Ettienne. He is also survived by his sisters, Sherron Lindeman and Patricia Dawson, and his brothers, Ronald (Pat) Morris and Ricky (Lisa) Morris, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Morris and Eheral “Penny” Morris: his grandparents, Joe Dee and Daisy Mae Morris, and Mitchell and Hazel Brown; his nephew Danny Lindeman; his nieces Brandi King and Heather Lindeman; and the love of his life, Lana Stacks.

Jay leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind the things he built, the lives he touched, the lessons he taught and the love he gave so freely. His hands may no longer be here to build, restore and create, but the beautiful things he left behind-and the people he loved- will carry his memory forward.

His life was a gift.

His memory is a treasure.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026,a t Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held on September 26th from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
