Mr. James Earl Wilhoite Sr., age 65, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March, 7, 2026 at 3PM at Open Door Baptist Church, with Brandon Cochran officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday at the church from 12-3 PM. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

James was born in Nashville, Tennessee and was the son of the late Floyd Wilhoite and the late Rosie Prince Wilhoite. James enjoyed listening to old time country music, fishing, riding motorcycles, watching old television shows, such as Sanford and Son Andy Griffith, and The Walton’s, playing cards, good southern food, practical jokes, and spending time with his family. He was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather, he will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife Carla Wilhoite, sons, James (Leondra) Wilhoite Jr., Andrew Halsey, Robbie (Chessy) Essex, daughter, Ashley Wilhoite (Benjamin), grandchildren, Kenslea Wihoite, Jamari Wilhite, Alannah Peters, Gavin Ashby, Levi Essex, great grandchildren, Kalani Wilhoite, sisters, Debbie (Kent) Smith, Barbara (Doug) Johnson, and brother, Paul Wilhoite.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lisa Wilhoite, brother, Jerry Wilhoite, sisters, Sherry Hall, Becky Ragsdale, and his grandson Asher Ashby.
