James Howard Pace, age 76, resident of Culleoka, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at NHC Columbia.
James was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, on March 1, 1947, to the late Gwendol "Squee" Pace and the late Mable Sandlin Pace. He served with pride and honor in the United States Army, fulfilling his duties as a Vietnam Veteran. Stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, he later deployed to Germany, contributing to the defense of his country.
In his leisure time, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of wrestling and passionately cheered for Alabama football. A regular at Shooters, he enjoyed playing pool with his close friends Tommy and Johnny Counts. His love for the game extended to the golf course, where he shared countless rounds with cherished buddies Tom Smith, Cotton Beasley, Dale Miklich, Bo Moore, Jimmy Beasley, and Jason Payne.
James is survived by his loving daughter, Laura (Shannon) Mitchell of Culleoka, his son, Michael Pace, and his adored grandchildren, Presley Wise and Rainey Mitchell. He is also remembered by his niece, Ginger Chapman, nephew, Braxton Pace, and his special aunt, Betty Jean.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Pace.
The family would like to thank all of dad’s nurses and CNA’s at NHC Columbia for treating him like their own.
