Bo Dawes

Mr. James Lee Dawes, age 62, resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21 at 2 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating, burial will follow in Ring Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20 from 4-7 at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

James was born on December 22, 1963 in Pulaski, Tennessee and was the son of the late James Wilson Dawes and the late Paula Ann Dorton. He enjoyed sports, especially watching the Vols and Titans, playing the lottery, being outdoors, deer hunting, was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Sr., was the self-proclaimed best roofer in Maury County, and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. A loving son, brother, father, and grandfather, he was affectionately known by his family as “Paw Paw & “Bo”. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Dusty (Breanna) Dawes, daughters, Jennifer (Herman) Gray, Crystal Dawes (Keith), Amity Lee, sisters, Susan Fralix, Kristie Hadley, grandchildren, Trayson, Lakenzie, Aiden, Adison, Brylee, Braxton, Brynlee, Xavier, Keshawn, Deiondra, Telena, Eric, great granddaughter Iris, as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Janet “Tuttie” Carter and Shelia Dawes.

Pallbearers will be Colton Cole, Stephen Brady, Herman Gray, Dusty Dawes, Brandon Dawes, James Dawes, and Matthew Dawes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Morton, Justin Fralix, Brayden Dawes, Jayden Dawes, and Caysin Hodge.
