Hazel Marie Spitznas, age 77, a resident of Murfreesboro, previously of Columbia, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Jimmy Rochelle and Chris Warren officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 5-7PM and again on Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 12-1PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 2PM at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on June 27, 1942 in Sumner County, Tennessee, Hazel was the daughter of the late Willie B. Butler and the late Nellie D. King Butler. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Murfreesboro. She and her husband, Jack, loved traveling and spent every winter camping in Florida. She was a multitalented lady who also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She loved spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hazel loved people and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Spitznas; daughter: Karen Darlene Underwood of Murfreesboro; step children: Jack Spitznas, II of Nashville, Helen Tomasulo of Nashville, Barbara (Steve) Sheehan of Illinois; son in law, Jerry Seiber of Columbia; sisters: Edith Warpool, Bonnie (Jerry) Wood; grandchildren: Misty (Daniel) Eubank, Josh Seiber, Michael (Soyoung) Tomasulo, Justin (Amanda) Seiber; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Seiber; brothers: Carl Butler, Cursey Butler, Thomas Butler, Paul Butler, Willie Butler, Gene Butler, Billy Butler; and sister, Edna Troutt.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Seiber, Daniel Eubank, Josh Seiber, Justin Seiber, Chauncey Winters, and Daniel Nicholson.
