Grace Lucille Chumley Whitley

Grace Lucille Whitley, affectionately known as “Amazing Grace,” passed peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the age of 91. A lifelong resident of Columbia, Tennessee, Grace’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, family, and generosity.

 Visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. at Jones Cemetery, officiated by Russ Adcox and Larry Benderman. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. 

Born to the late George and Eva Lou Ring Chumley, Grace graduated from Central High School, where she played on the Lady Lions basketball team. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Whitley, with whom she shared a life of love and devotion. 

She is survived by her children: Robert (Donna) Whitley, Richard (Debbie) Whitley, and Patricia (Robert) Wakefield; grandchildren: Keith Whitley, Sommar Whitley Jaynes, Lindsey Wakefield Wilke (Ryan), and Lauren Wakefield; great-grandchildren: Codie Brown (Brody), Hannah Wilke, and Rachel Grace Wilke; and nephews Edgar (Donna) Chumley and Alan (Donna) Chumley. 

Grace’s love was felt in every pie she baked, every board game played with her grandchildren, and every story shared. Her daughter’s wedding business, Clemmie Grace Designs, was named in her honor—a tribute to the grace and beauty she embodied. 

A founding member of Maury Hills Church, Grace found joy in fellowship and treasured visits from Sherri, Russ, and Shalena. 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The Bridge, Life Care Center of Columbia, and Gentiva Hospice for their compassion and care. 

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers in honor of a woman who carried so many with love throughout her life. 

Grace’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched—a life marked by devotion, laughter, and unwavering love.
