Georgia Carol Carr

February 27, 1933 — March 22, 2024

Georgia “Carol” Barnes Carr, age 91, a resident of Culleoka, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with the memorial service beginning at 6:00 PM with Chris Caldwell officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 27, 1933, in Anderson, Indiana, Carol was the daughter of the late Chester Barnes and the late Grace Decker Barnes. She was a 1951graduate of Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana. She worked as a medical assistant while living in Costa Mesa and Rohnert Park, California, but she was a longtime resident of Anderson, Indiana, and she retired as a customer service manager at the Anderson Herald/Bulletin. Carol loved the outdoors and animals of all kinds from cats and dogs to the many birds and squirrels she fed daily. She was an avid gardener with an enviable green thumb. Carol was a talented seamstress who loved making her own clothes. She was generous, honest, and sincere, always putting her family first.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Greg) Lynn Benge of Shoals, IN, Joseph “Brian” Carr of Santa Rosa, CA, James “Brady” (Share All) Carr of Columbia, TN, grandchildren, Ginger Widdifield, Zachary Montgomery, Joshua Montgomery, Buck Montgomery, Noah Carr, and Shifarrah Shelton, eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and her very special “angels,” who helped care for her over the years, Beth Beaudry and Shayna Schnereger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Wade Carr, brothers, Roger Barnes, Wayne Barnes, Malcolm Barnes, and grandchild, Judith Carr.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the third floor at Maury Regional Medical Center, the doctors, nurses, and staff of Life Care Center of Columbia, and Rita Pace and the staff of Hospice Compassus.
