George Robert Ogden, 63, of Columbia TN, passed away on September 27, 2024, surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
George, born December 17, 1960 in New Carlisle, OH is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 18 years, Teresa Ogden. They met in 2004 while serving at Inner City Ministries in Columbus, OH. After only a couple interactions with each other George told the Pastor there that Terri was the woman he was going to marry. Shortly thereafter, they fell in love and were married on September 16, 2006 and recently had the honor and blessing of renewing their vows on August 16, 2024.
George is also survived by his loving children and grandchildren; Son, Brian Belt (Cyndi) and their three children Cash, Keegan and Gracie; Daughter, Shell Snyder (Mike) and their three daughters Evy, Annabelle and Amelia; and Daughter, Stephanie Montgomery.
George was a devoted servant of God. His life's mission and work was to make Jesus known and glorify the Father. He was an incredibly humble and generous man who lived life intentionally and selflessly even up to his last breath. He made every day and every word he said count, starting every morning speaking the words of Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
He had many a friend but he counted his grandchildren among his closest of buddies who affectionately referred to him as Papaw. Being sure to train them up in the ways of the Lord, he not only discipled and taught them the Word of God but he was the world's best playmate. He never missed an opportunity for a “dance-off”, playdates at the park, pretend games, or coloring/crafts.
He loved playing basketball, going to the movies, listening to Christian praise and worship music and taking his wife dancing. He was a gifted videographer who produced legacy videos for family and friends. He enjoyed road trips with his loving wife exploring new places but his favorite pastime was simply being at home with Terri reading the scriptures together and praying. George was a deep thinker and an intellectual who truly loved and cherished the scriptures spending everyday in the Bible.
George was preceded in death by his dearly beloved mother-in-law Evelyn Tanner who he had the privilege of caring for until she went home to be with Jesus, his beloved grandmother Theresa Mills, mother Thelma Stiers, aunt Wilma Bowling and brother Michael Stiers.
