Elvin Ray “Buddy” Ashworth, age 70, husband of Tammy Ashworth, and a resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on May 31, 1955, in Lewis County, Tennessee, Buddy was the son of the late Doris Delbert Ashworth and the late Mandy Irene Whitehead Ashworth. He began his lifelong career as a truck driver at the age of sixteen, starting with over the road and later transitioning to driving a dump truck. On July 2, 1999, he married the love of his life, Tammy.
Buddy had a passion for race cars, whether he was racing them or building them. He was a loving, caring, and hardworking husband and father who especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jennifer (William) Sullivan, Jessica (Josh) McBride, Joseph (fiancé, Alyssa Ward) Ashworth, Katie (fiancé, Jason Owens) Ashworth, Mandy Ashworth, and Jennifer Price, brother, John Robert (Sharon) Ashworth, sisters, Margaret Allen, Julia Faye (Delbert) Manley, grandchildren, Taylor (Jamilyn) Sullivan, Dustin (fiancé, Cheyenne) Sullivan, Connor Sullivan, Caleb McBride, Aubrey McBride, Laney Sue McBride, Dylan Owens, Madison Owens, Carsen Price, Christopher Price, Brenden Michael Ward, Ander Justin Lyles, great grandchildren, Tolly James Sullivan and Ava Sullivan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Elvin Ray “BJ” Ashworth, Jr., Brandon Joseph Ashworth, granddaughter, Megan Danielle Sullivan, and siblings, Peggy Ashworth, Debra Rubert, Wayne Ashworth, Eugene Ashworth, Bonni Ashworth, Jimmy Ashworth, and Rosemary Ashworth.
