Dewayne Hayes

Earl Dewayne Hayes, age 71, resident of Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on January 1, 1955, in Columbia, Tennessee, Dewayne was the son of the late English Hayes and the late Geneva Gerard Pipkin. He attended Columbia Central High School and retired from the Maury County Highway Department, where he worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator.

Growing up, Dewayne played guitar in several bands and had a lifelong love of music. He also enjoyed watching movies, but most of all, he loved going out to eat. Dewayne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hayes of Columbia, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Lucas Jackson, Brantley Jackson, Lexie Stanfill, and Logan Stanfill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Charles Pipkin, who raised him.
