Dorothy Matilda Milliken Davenport, 102 yrs, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on July 4, 2026, at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Culleoka, TN, meeting her heavenly Father peacefully as she entered heaven.
Born May 29, 1924, in Princeton, IL, she was the oldest daughter of the late Esther Walters and James Douglas Milliken. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband of 65 years, John Scott Davenport, and her lively sister, Margaret Jean Hoeffliger.

Also called “Dottie,” Dorothy lived a life of service and education. She belonged to the Bee Line Chapter NSDAR, Charles Town, WV, and taught Special Education in public schools for 25 years. She was a faithful docent at various historical venues including Lee Chapel, VA and Longstreet Farms, Holmdel, NJ.
Dorothy enjoyed listening to a good piano player, singing a hymn at church, and eating popcorn while watching soccer matches. She created a baking tradition with her Oatmeal Crisp cookies and biscuits, using a reliable family rolling pin. Dottie enjoyed the company of family pets: especially Asguirr and a horse name Fi.
