Donald G. Brogan

Mr. Donald Garfield Brogan, age 90 and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Pastor Rick Blevins from First Family Baptist Church of Columbia will be officiating the funeral service. Visitation will be held before the service from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Mr. Brogan will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens, with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

Don was born in Barbourville, Kentucky on September 17, 1936, and was the son of the late Philip Garfield Brogan and Marie Bussell Brogan. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army and then obtained a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, while working full-time for General Electric. Don’s only son Scott was born on May 23rd, 1967.

On December 21, 1974, Don married Nadine Norman Brogan, whom he met while opening the GE plant in Columbia, TN. Don adored his wife, and they shared many wonderful years together until her passing on November 12, 2020. After his retirement from General Electric, Don worked as a Machinery Sales Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana. Eventually, he and Nadine moved back to Columbia, TN to be close to Nadine’s daughter, Patsy, and their grandchildren, Dave and Kindal.

Don’s faith was an extremely important part of his life. He was a longtime, active member of First Family Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir for many years and traveled on numerous mission trips. He also dedicated his time and talents to helping others through Maury Baptist Disaster Relief and Eight Days of Hope Disaster Relief. For several years, he enjoyed volunteering with MUMs (Maury United Ministries), always finding ways to serve his community and lending a helping hand.

Don’s biggest joy was spending time with his grand and great grandchildren. He taught all of them how to play checkers, chess and pool, and how to shoot guns. He took them on many adventures including water parks, snow sledding, bowling and movies theatres. Don also loved shooting fireworks each year with his grand and great grandchildren. In his later years, Don enjoyed playing Bingo and attending Bible studies with his fellow residents at Poplar Estates Senior Living. He also continued playing chess and checkers there.

Don will always be remembered for his joy filled attitude, his love for life and helping others, as well as his faith for God and dedication to serving God’s Church. There are so many lives that he has touched, and he will be greatly missed by all.

Don is survived by his daughter Patsy Mosley (Laccie Anderson) of Columbia, TN; grandchildren Dave (Beverly) Jackson of Valdosta, GA, Kindal Jackson Pruitt of Madison, AL; great grandchildren Nicholas Jackson of Valdosta, GA, Walter and Warren Pruitt of Madison, AL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott G. Brogan, sister, Betty Edwards, and brother, Philip R. Brogan.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Jackson, Walter Pruitt, Warren Pruitt, Geoff Carter, Dave Gross and John Walton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Tuesday Morning Breakfast Group, his many friends from First Family Baptist Church, and the residents and caregivers at Poplar Estates Senior Living.
