Deanna "Dee" Brewington Currie

Deanna “Dee” Brewington Currie was born on November 30, 1959, in Oakland, California, and was the daughter of the late Billy Earl and Nellie Faye Brewington. After a valiant battle with a serious illness, she passed away on July 31, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

On July 11, 1981, she married David Currie, and together they shared forty-five wonderful years. Dee dedicated twenty years as a registered nurse at Maury Regional Medical Center and five years as a registered nurse at The Medical Group of Columbia before retiring in 2022. She attended Friendship Baptist Church in Culleoka. Dee will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her, brother, William Brewington; sister, Patricia Ann Beith; and father in law, Paul Currie.

Dee is survived by her devoted husband, David; her loving son, Jeff (Becca) Currie; her beloved grandchildren, Turner and Tillie; siblings, Michael (Janie) Brewington, Bobby Carmikle, Jerry (Didi) Carmikle, Scott (Lorrie) Brewington, Tim Brewington; mother in law, Dorothy M. Currie; and brother in law, Keith (Debbie) Currie.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, with Rick Points and Rory Gant officiating. She will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Richey Schatz, Tyler Crews, Cody Odom, Ryan Cothran, Jamie Prince, José Periut, Larry Low, and Mark Hall. Honorary pallbearers will include Dee’s coworkers at Maury Regional Medical Center- 3rd Floor, and her coworkers at The Medical Group of Columbia.
