Darrell Keith King, age 56, a resident of Mount Pleasant, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mount Pleasant Health and Rehab.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Heritage Funeral Home at 1PM with Pastor Randy Kersey officiating. A burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. A visitation will also be held on Monday from 11AM-1PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 13, 1969 in Maury County, Darrell was the son of the late Harold King and the late Betty Powell. Darrell embodied a servants heart, which led him to a career in healthcare. He was a CNA for many years at Magnolia Nursing Home. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant. Darrell also served his community as a substitute teacher in Hampshire. He was an avid collector of NASCAR memorabilia, loved Alabama football, spending time with his grandbabies, shopping at Walmart, and served in Civil Defense in Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his soulmate, Melissa Thiele, step father, Kenneth Powell, stepson, Richard Russell Brown Jr., step daughters, Shelby Lynn (Steven) Bowles, Cristina Smith (Eric Armstrong), Jessica (Buster) Bryant, sister, Angie (Davis) Berry, niece, Sydni Berry, nephew, Tyler (Katie) Berry, great nephew, Huck Berry, grandchildren; Randy Douthitt, Tre Douthitt, Jada Cox, Karli Bryant, Laurel Douthitt, Travonte Douthitt, Jaylex Gordon, Devin Skidmore, Malachi Bowles, River Bowles, Makayla Bowles, Kingston Sims, Keeley Bowles, Kolten Douglas, and best friend and cousin, Howard Lemay.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Powell, and step son, William Skidmore IV.
