Daniel Nathan Carroll

Daniel Nathan Carroll, age 66, husband of Vicki Bonner Carroll, passed away on July 25, 2025, at his residence in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.

Dan was born on May 21, 1959, and raised in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Lloyd & Jacqueline Carroll. He was a 1977 graduate of Lawrence County High School and continued his education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, then completed his Bachelor’s Degree at Northwood University in Arlington, Texas.

Dan started his career in the General Motors vehicle business at Lloyd Carroll Motors in 1981 and continued with the Local GM dealership through different ownerships until his retirement from Heritage Automotive in 2024. Dan won many awards from General Motors, including multiples of the GM Mark of Excellence given for a combination of sales volume and excellent customer service, each time adding another diamond to his GM ring. Top salesman status was common for Dan.

Dan lived a life without limits, with an energy of excitement for every experience. His motorcycles were an extension of his adventurous spirit, carrying him across rugged off-road terrains and down countless scenic roads. He explored many woodland trails on horses, 4-wheelers, and utility vehicles; often blazing a new trail.

Dan loved water. He found peace paddling canoes through winding creeks, cooling off in the creek or lake, the fun of exhilarating speed while boating on the river, and the beach time at the ocean.

Music filled his life. Dan enjoyed the energy of small local bands, the atmosphere of concerts, or his personal playlist. He was a faithful follower of the WC Handy festival for decades.

Dan loved good food! He had become quite a chef. He often unleashed his culinary talents in his own kitchen, on the creekbank, or camping in the infield at a NASCAR race.

Dan’s family was his pride and JOY! Growing up in a large family, Dan was the fourth of six children. The Carroll family household was filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Frequent large family gatherings with good food, fellowship, and fun were commonplace throughout the years. Carroll family gatherings didn’t just include relatives. Friends were always a part of the household. Dan’s close relationships with his wife, daughter, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and in-laws are all a part of his family story. His love and devotion for Vicki, Paige, Eric, Jack, Archie, and Mila stands out above the rest.

Dan was a good friend to so many people! Everyone loved “Dan the Man,” and he leaves quite a legacy.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Paige Carroll Johnson (Eric), three grandchildren, Jack, Archie, and Mila Johnson, three sisters, Jane Gay Carvell (Kent), Sharon Remke (Tom), Anne Carroll, nieces, Rachel Carvell Trofatter (Pete), Carroll Marie Blackwood (Orry), Amanda Remke, Leeanna Carroll, and nephews, Alex Carvell, Austin Remke, great nieces, Etta Rose Blackwood and Maeve Blackwood.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Earl Carroll and Chris Carroll, and grandparents, Oron & Virgie Hood, Stephen & Lillian Carroll.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held on Sunday, August 17th at Providence Hall, 26 Public Square, in downtown Lawrenceburg. The service will begin at 2:00 PM.
