Chester “Chet” A. Bauman, age 56, husband of Lynn Bauman, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Monte McCandless officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 23, 1967, Chet was raised by Bonnie and Ronald “Red” Bauman, his mom and dad. He was employed in quality management by Comprehensive Logistics, Inc. in Spring Hill. Additionally, he was a United States Army veteran. In his earlier years, Chet also participated in archery competitions. He loved shooting his gun at the gun range, all sports and especially “cat fishing”. Chet also loved hunting, fishing and spending time at the river with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Codie Bauman of Nashville, Blane Harrison of Columbia, Ashley Harrison of Columbia, John Duncan (Hilary) of Chattanooga, and Hunter Duncan of Columbia, five grandchildren, (with one on the way), brother, Jim (Jen) Bauman of Sioux Falls, SD, sister, Nicole Hokenson of Fargo, ND, six additional siblings, many nieces and nephews, and long time friend, Kevin Long.
Chet was preceded in death by two siblings and his grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Josh Williams, Hamilton Lomax, Stevie Ray Ballinger, Tommy O. Smith, Kelsey Haywood and Ryan Essaff. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his river family.
