Carolyn Joan Davis Paul, at the age of 87, left her earthly home for her heavenly home on August 3, 2026. She was born on August 23, 1938, to the late Leon and Elizabeth Morgan Davis. Carolyn was blessed with many talents. She always felt these talents were gifts from God. Her 12 years of education were at the schools of Hay Long in Mt. Pleasant. She loved music. She loved to sing and sang anytime chorus was available. She joined the band in the 7th grade. She played the trumpet during concert season and majorette during marching season. Her junior and senior year, she led the marching band as Drum Major. She was president of her FHA Chapter during her senior year. Carolyn got to sing with the State FHA Chorus at the convention in Nashville. She tied for 10th place in the top ten of her graduating class and was voted Most Friendly Girl in her class. She was active in her church as she played the organ and sang in the choir.

On December 24,1954, she married her forever love, Donald Wesley Paul. They enjoyed 68 years together. Through the years, Donald and she used their singing talent as their ministry. They sang as a trio before their family joined them. The family group consisted of Donald & Carolyn, their son Tim, his wife Diane, daughter Penny and her husband Rick Waters. Carolyn was a bookkeeper. She worked at Seaboard Finance Company for 7 years. During this time, she joined the Columbia Credit Women. She served as President in 1969. In 1970, she started to work at Maury County Board of Education first as a substitute and then joined Central High School as record keeper. She was there 10 years.

In 1982, she opened Carolyn's Cakes and Catering. She met many young people and their families as they made plans for their weddings. For 20 years, she offered full wedding services. She continued baking cakes after she retired. She baked special coconut cakes as gifts during Christmas for WXRQ sponsors. Over the years, Carolyn loved sewing and crocheting. She especially loved making little girls' dresses. She made quilts for her family. She made heirloom clothes for her great grands Weston, Keller, Braelynn, Keasling, Adalyn and Deacon Paul and two Baby Great Grands on the way.

Carolyn is survived by her son Tim, daughter Penny (Rick) Waters, grandsons- Landon (Ashley) Paul, Keaton (Destiny) Paul, Houston (Hannah) Paul; sisters- Cleon (Bobby) Clayton, Janet Norman, Sheila (Donald) Ledford, Debby Fitzgerald, many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents Leon and Elizabeth Morgan Davis, sister Jane Fetherling, brother Ricky Davis, Brother in laws Dennis Fitzgerald and Stanley Norman, her grandson Timothy Weston Paul and her loving daughter in law Diane Paul. She was also preceded by her in laws: Arthur L and Vera Smith Paul, Ethel Chumley, Bristol and Connie Messick, Irene Lovell, Bob and Marjorie McVicker, Marion and Lorraine Paul, Ronald and Juanita Paul, and Gerald and Joyce Paul.

A special thank you to the Trauma Unit nurses and doctors at Maury Regional, St. Thomas West ICU nurses and doctors, and staff at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro for all the kindness shown to Carolyn and the family.

Carolyn's son, Tim and her grandsons Landon, Keaton and Houston Paul will be in charge of the service. Family will serve as pallbearers and members of The Church at the Mount will serve as honorary pallbearers.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral is assisting the family with arrangements.
