Brittany Nicole Stanak, lovingly known as “Pretty Cole” to her family, passed away on May 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 36 years old.
A celebration of life will be held at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday, May 8th, at 6 pm, with Rev. Cynthia McGowan and Rev. Dedra Campbell officiating. Friends and family will be encouraged to share memories. Heritage Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
Brittany was a devoted mother to her children, Miana, Adriana, Kaydence, and Bryson Stanak, who were the center of her world. She is also survived by her mother, Tanya Lynn Woods; her brothers, Joshua Hadden and Michael (Amy) Hadden; her sisters-in-law, Amanda Knight; her aunt, Reba Raymer; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Stanak; her grandparents, Lawrence and Barbara Woods; her uncle Chris Woods; and her aunts Diane Woods, Kathy Woods, and Judy Woods.
If you knew Brittany, you know she didn’t just exist—she lived. Fully, loudly, and beautifully. She loved deeply, laughed often, and made sure the people around her knew they mattered.
Many saw Brittany as chaos, but she was searching. David was her constant, and when she lost him, she fought hard to survive and find herself. One thing never changed, she never stopped loving. Her heart was as big as her spirit.
In the last three years of her life, while battling cancer, Brittany also found recovery and a recovery family that meant so much to her. She faced her struggles with honesty and strength, touching many lives along the way.
In accordance with her wishes, Brittany will be cremated, and in a final act of love, her ashes will be laid to rest together with those of her beloved husband, David.
We are eternally grateful to Michelle “Chely: Jaquess, Jordan Jaquess, and Daniel and Kelley Clendenen for their loving commitment to care for Brittany’s children. Honorary friends Melissa Schoran, Kakeisha Brown, and Jessica Francis, Debra Campbell, and friends from FreshStart, along with a very special mother figure, Cynthia McGowan.
