Brian Grayson Varnado, age 62, a resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at his residence, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 1, 1962, in Columbia.
He fought the good fight with grace and humor. He saw life through a different lens and displayed a kindness toward all people, most animals, and some drivers. His spirit will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his brothers, Frank (Jan) Varnado, Kevin (Elizabeth) Varnado, sister, Liz (Mike) Lomax, nephews, Ben, Bryan, and Jay Varnado, nieces, Lauren (Jamie) Ritchie, Jessa Varnado, numerous great nephews and great nieces.
He was preceded in death by Billy Wilson Varnado and Wilma Elizabeth Bottoms Varnado.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Frank Varnado and Kevin Varnado officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Lake Lomax, Bryan Varnado, Ben Varnado, Jay Varnado, Mike Lomax, Mark Willoughby, Sam Varnado, and Dusty Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will include, Jim Hutcheson, Wesley Dugger, Lee Dugger, and Emma Anderson.
The family wishes to extended a special thank you to Jim Hutcheson, Hospice Compassus, Bailey, Andrea, Pam, Heather, Nichole, and Antonio, Mark Willoughby, Jesse (Audrey) Lloyd, all of his Riverside neighbors and friends, his Chuckwagon Grill friends, Tennessee Oncology, Maury Regional Radiology, especially Dr. Dhulipala, Dr. Sattasiri, Dr. Kochanski, Dr. Mark Cobb, and Dr. Thomas Farmer.
