Brenda Jane Wheatley, beloved mother and cherished “BB,” passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Columbia, Tennessee. She leaves behind a void that can never be filled by her four children, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren who adored her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brandon Cochran officiating. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on May 13, 1952, in Pontiac, Michigan, Brenda was the daughter of the late Wayne and Modena Wheatley. She devoted her life to her children and extended that same motherly love to their friends, treating them as if they were her own. She had a true passion for cooking, baking, sewing, quilting, and even styling hair, giving countless haircuts and perms through the years. Brenda also worked in customer service with Ford Motor Credit for many years before retiring.
Known for her radiant smile and contagious laugh, Brenda brought joy to every room she entered. She loved her extended family deeply, proudly claiming the title of “number one cousin.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Roop, nephew, Philip Wheatley, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Hurst, David (Allison) Hurst, Tim Hurst, and Sarah (Dennis) Roop, brother Larry (Debi) Wheatley, grandchildren Shelby (Zack) Hurst, Grace Hurst, Logan Hurst, Brady Morrison, Dena Roop, James Roop, William Morrison, Owen Hurst, and Maxwell Hurst, great-grandchildren, Cooper, Baylor, Beckett, and Crew Gordon.
