Betty Ernestine Miller Rash, age 89, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Travers officiating. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. A private entombment will be held in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty was born April 9, 1933 in Palmyra, Tennessee and was the daughter of the late Lewis Miller and the late Anna Haynes Miller. She graduated form Montgomery Central High School in Cunningham, Tennessee and attended Austin Peay University. She was employed by the Department of Human Services in Clarksville, Tennessee and the Dependent Schools at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. In 1965 Betty married Waldo E. Rash and later moved to Columbia where she was employed by Columbia State Community College. She completed her career working for thirty-five years as a ministerial assistant for Northside Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at the age of 17. She fought the good fight and kept the faith. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Derik Miller (Kei) Rash of Columbia; brother, Dr. Lewis Dudley (Deborah) Miller of Crozet, Virginia; brothers-in-law, Larry, Jerry, and George Rash of Van, West Virginia; nine nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will include Al Coble, Seth Coble, Henry McMahan, John Reischman, members of Northside Baptist Church and the Lead on Sunday School Class.
